The Mystery Gift appeared on August 2, 2010 with a link in the list of Neighbors at the bottom of the Homestead. Like other gifts, the Pioneer can only send one Mystery Gift to each Neighbor per day.
When the Neighbor receives the Mystery Gift, the message says, "Here's a daily Mystery Gift. Open it to win limited edition items, special meals, and more! Could you help me by sending a gift back?"
Mystery Gift 1, which is the 
Pink box, has the most Animal items.
Mystery Gift 2, which is the Blue box, has the most Collectibles.
Mystery Gift 3, which is the 
Green box, has the most unique Decorations.
Mystery Gift 4, which is the 
Purple box, is the only gift which gives Meals.
You can tell which you are going to send after you select 'Send Mystery Gift', by noting the icon on the left when selecting friends to send to.
